Midlife is a time of change, transition, and quiet redefinition. Many women experience shifts in identity, relationships, work, and health that can deeply shape emotional well-being.

One way to explore these experiences is through story.

The books selected for The Space Between Book Club are not centered on midlife or menopause. Instead, they feature female characters across genres—stories I read through the lens of midlife. Their turning points, struggles, and awakenings offer space for reflection, resonance, and perspective.

Through these stories, we find insight, recognition, and room to consider our own lives with greater clarity.

The Space Between is a monthly, asynchronous reading space rooted in quiet reflection.

Each month, one thoughtfully selected book is shared, along with a brief reflection and optional prompts to support personal reflection.

There are no meetings or expectations for participation. This is not a discussion-based space—it is a shared reading experience held in parallel, each person moving at their own pace.

There is nothing required from you—only your own engagement, in whatever form feels right.

This space is rooted in a simple intention: to turn down the noise of constant input and return to a slower way of engaging with ideas, ourselves, and the seasons we are in.

Read at your own pace. Reflect in your own time.

How Books Help Us Understand Midlife

  1. Normalizing Experience

Midlife can feel isolating. Stories of change, loss, and rediscovery help normalize what we are moving through.

  2. Encouraging Reflection

Fiction and nonfiction invite inward attention, deepening self-awareness and perspective.

  3. Building Empathy

Reading expands understanding—of others, and of ourselves.

Final Thoughts

Reading in this way offers a gentle space to meet yourself during seasons of change. Reflection doesn't ask us to change overnight. It creates enough space to understand ourselves more deeply, so that when we're ready, we can choose our next step with intention.

If you are navigating midlife or simply want to read with greater intention, The Space Between Book Club invites you into a slower way of engaging with story and self.
