"I'm not just a therapist talking about midlife. I'm a woman living it."— Diseph
Welcome. I'm Diseph, creator and host of The Pause Culture Podcast—and this is why I pause.
In a world that often asks us to move faster, produce more, and keep pushing forward, I've learned that some of life's most important insights emerge when we create space to slow down and listen.
Midlife didn’t come with a manual—or a warning label. One moment I was moving through life with a sense of control, and the next, everything was shifting. Roles changed. Identity shifted. Menopause arrived uninvited. And I found myself asking: Who am I now?
If you are in that space too, you are not alone.
I'm not just a therapist talking about midlife. I'm a woman living it.
I am navigating this season alongside the women I support—experiencing menopause in real time while running a private practice, raising a young child, tending to my marriage, redefining my identity, and learning that sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and while my clinical training shapes how I understand awareness, emotion and change, it is only part of the story. The combination of professional training and lived experience shapes how I hold this space.
The spaces between life's chapters, transitions, and turning points have taught me that growth doesn't always happen in the rush. More often, it begins in the pause.
I've come to believe that the pause is the birthplace of agency. It creates enough space to notice what is true, question what no longer fits, and choose our next step with intention. Awareness helps us understand how we arrived here. The pause is where that awareness becomes choice—and over time, those choices become transformation.
That belief is at the heart of everything I create.
Whether through therapy, long-form conversations on The Pause Culture Podcast, quiet reading in The Space Between Book Club, reflective writing, Reel Reflections, or the brief pauses offered through Pause in 3, each offering is designed with the same intention: to help women turn down the noise, return to themselves, and create enough space to choose their next step with intention.
This space is not therapy—it is a place for reflection, integration, curiosity, community, and shared meaning-making.
For me, pausing is not stepping away from life—it is a way of returning to it more fully.
A pause is not about checking out.
It is about checking in.
